ABOUT THE EVENT

Cancer touches all of us. Whether it's a parent, spouse, child, friend, coworker, or neighbor, nearly everyone knows someone whose life has been impacted by cancer.

Just-a-Break from Cancer was founded in honor of Jennifer Thorpe, whose compassion inspired a mission that continues to bless families today. During her cancer treatments, Jennifer and her husband, Greg, quietly purchased gift cards for gas, meals, and local activities, anonymously giving them to fellow cancer patients and caregivers they met along the way. They saw firsthand how even the smallest act of kindness could provide hope, relief, and a much-needed break during an incredibly difficult time.

After Jennifer passed away in 2015, our family established Just-a-Break from Cancer, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to carrying on her legacy by providing physical, financial, and emotional breaks to cancer patients and their caregivers.

On August 21, 2026, we'll gather for our second annual Just-a-Break Gala in Ogden for an unforgettable evening of community, generosity, and hope. Through inspiring stories, great food, entertainment, auctions, and giving, we'll come together to make a real difference in the lives of local families facing cancer.

Whether you attend the gala, sponsor a table, become an event sponsor, host a vendor booth, donate a raffle or auction item, or simply help spread the word, your support directly helps provide meaningful moments of relief to those who need them most.

Together, we can continue Jennifer's legacy and remind every family facing cancer that they are not alone, one break at a time.

RAFFLE/SILENT AUCTION PRIZE DONATION

Donating a raffle or silent auction item is a meaningful way to support the Just-a-Break Gala and help provide much-needed relief to local cancer patients and caregivers. We welcome a wide range of contributions—from gift cards and local services to unique experiences and high-value products. Items with a value under $100 MSRP may be thoughtfully bundled with other donations to create attractive prize packages. The level of visibility and promotion each donation receives will be based on its value, with larger items receiving more prominent placement in pre-event marketing, social media spotlights, and on-site displays. All donors will be acknowledged in the event program and featured in a group thank-you post after the event. Your generous gift helps us raise critical funds while offering guests a fun and engaging way to give back.

EMCEE: CRAIG BIELIK

Warm, sly and just plain funny is the best way to describe Craig Bielik when he’s on stage. He has hosted and performed in clubs throughout the western United States, and at far too many corporate functions, wild parties, and charity events to count for more than 25 years. Recently he has been seen spreading the comedy word at the Utah Wine Lovers Annual Gala, Davis Arts “Crazy 8’s Festival” and at the “Red Cross Red and White Soiree” His “everyday guy style”, yet totally “wired up wrong” take on life combines with a “just talking with you” presentation to make Craig one of the most popular and approachable talents currently visiting the comedy world. His can also be seen as host of the local television series “Crowd Surfing” on Northern Utah’s Channel 17.
